Karnataka Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Rules, 2019 have been
notified. The rules, inter alia, mandate employers having 50 or
more employees to provide and maintain a crèche for the use
of children who are below the age of six years. The crèche
is to be located within the premises of the establishment or within
five hundred (500) meters from the entrance gate of the
establishment. The rules also prescribe minimum standards for the
crèche.
