The High Commission of India in London announced in a Press Release of August 5th that bio-metrics enrollment have come into existence for visa applicants in certain visa categories, with effect from August 19, 2016.

Individuals applying for any of the visas as set out below at the Indian Visa Application Centers in the U.K. will now be required to appear in person and submit bio-metrics - finger print data and facial photograph:

  • Employment Visa
  • Journalist Visa
  • Research Visa
  • Student Visa
  • Visit Visa (applicable only to Pakistani nationals)
  • Project Visa
  • Missionary Visa

Exemptions from this requirement to personally appear and submit bio-metrics, apply to cases where the applicant is under 12 years, or more than 70 years, of age and where the applicant has poor or no finger prints.

Bio-metric enrollment would be conducted during the process of submission of visa application at one of the 14 Indian Visa Application Centers in the UK.
