Ed, the global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker, today announced it has been granted a commercial insurance intermediary licence by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.

Nick Bachmann has been appointed as Divisional Director of Professional & Executive Risks to direct the expansion of Ed's offering in Guernsey. He takes up his role with immediate effect and will report to James Baird, Director, Professional and Executive Risks.

Mr Bachmann joins from Willis Towers Watson where he served, most recently as Executive Director, for nearly six years and managed its financial and professional risks offering in the Channel Islands.

James Baird said: "Obtaining a licence in Guernsey is indicative of the Ed strategy and of how we will build our professional and executive risks business. This allows us to offer clients in this important, international financial centre direct access to global capacity and expertise whilst delivering solutions locally. Nick's local expertise and understanding of international financial markets makes him the ideal candidate to drive our aspirations in Guernsey. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team."

Mr Bachmann will work closely with new colleagues Mark Lowndes, Mike Fraser, Kevin White, Greg Smith, James Faith and Neal Hughes, all of whom also have extensive expertise and experience in the Channel Islands' markets.

"Nick's local expertise and understanding of international financial markets makes him the ideal candidate to drive our aspirations in Guernsey. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team," said Mr Baird
