Megan Williams has become the first model to apply to register her image rights in Guernsey.
Miss Williams, 19, is on the books of the world-famous Storm agency and is seen as a rising star in the industry as a face of American brand Guess, among others.
Guernsey trust company Liberation Management and law firm Appleby have jointly filed an application for the registration of her personality and image rights on the Guernsey register.
Michael Richards, Associate at Appleby and the firm's registered image rights agent, said: "Megan's image is integral to her work and is a growing source of her income as her career develops.
"In the light of the successful image protection case recently brought by singer Rihanna, it is increasingly important for famous people to protect their image and reputation.
"Guernsey's innovative registration process serves as another layer of protection for controlling a personality's brand and ensuring others do not profit from the unauthorised use of their image to sell products or services."
Miss Williams' family is from Guernsey and she lived in the Island for a while as a child.
"Our initial contact with Megan came through family connections and it was an interesting experience for us to get involved in the world of high fashion and image rights registrations. We hope it will be the first of many," said David Rowlinson, Managing Director of Liberation Management, an independent trust company founded in the Island in 2007.
"Megan's career is really going places and she was delighted to have the opportunity to strengthen her links and hopefully help promote the Island through this registration."
This latest development follows on from Manuel Pellegrini, the Manchester City manager, registering his image rights in Guernsey last month.
