Where can a woman, fresh out of law school, go to launch a great career in the legal world? Where can an experienced lawyer find a team that values her contribution and offers great opportunities for advancement?

Any one of the organizations highlighted in Working Mother Media's recent report on the best law firms for women is a safe bet. Each has been recognized for taking gender gap issues and diversity seriously, and women of the law would do well to take notice.

The report, which has been conducted annually for the past decade, is based on some 300 questions posed to nearly 100 firms that volunteered to take part. One of the weightiest elements of the evaluation is the number of women equity partners at a given firm. The national average for legal organizations in the U.S. is 18%, among those on Working Mother's list its 20%, says managing director Subha Barry, managing director
