United States: Diversity Committee-Sponsored Events
Last Updated: July 17 2017

As part of the firms commitment to educate our lawyers and staff on the importance of respecting inclusion and diversity, the firm hosted the following programs noted below.

On April 20, the firm hosted a discussion on universal inclusion, a system to eliminate barriers to recruitment and maximize the potential of talent. This discussion was presented by consultant and Kramer Levin alumnus Matan Koch. Matan, an inclusion expert, developed his theories of inclusion during his career as in-house counsel to a Fortune 500 company and as a litigator at Kramer Levin.

The Honorable Matan Koch is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School. His career in corporate law includes working in the general counsel's office for a Fortune 500 company, as well as at Kramer Levin, where he also consulted on issues relating to disability. Mr. Koch was honored to be appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate to serve on the National Council on Disability

On May 4, the firm hosted a follow-up discussion on Emotional Intelligence with NYU Law vice dean Jeannie Forrest. The program focused on a deeper knowledge of emotional intelligence and how the ability to understand oneself and read people (clients and colleagues alike) is considered an important tool in being an effective, successful leader. Dean Forrest also shared how Emotional Quotient is shown to have a positive correlation with job performance.

Jeannie Forrest, Vice Dean for Development and Leadership Initiatives at New York University School of Law, holds a Ph.D. in psychology and is the founder of Growth Spurt Coaching, an executive coaching service. She currently supervises the development and alumni relations team at NYU Law and is responsible for the embedding of leadership programming, a signature experience, into the law school curriculum.
