On September 9, 2016, the New Brunswick government announced a review of three key areas of employment regulation, including a public consultation period until October 7, 2016.

Minimum wages. The review will explore indexing the minimum wage rate to inflation. NB's minimum wage increased to $10.65/hour on April 1, 2016.

Employment standards law coverage. The NB Employment Standards Act sets out minimum terms and conditions of employment, including statutory leave entitlements and minimum employment termination notice periods. The current review will focus on who is protected under this law and how it's applied.

Employment protections for young workers. The government says the review will consider employment protections for young workers under "the Act" (presumably the Employment Standards Act). The Act (and in particular, sections 39-41) regulate the employment of children.
