The Ontario Ministry of Labour requires employers to inform employees about their rights under the Employment Standards Act (the “ESA”).

The new version 6 ESA poster for Ontario must be delivered to all existing employees individually no later than June 19th and must be provided to all new hires on a go forward basis within 30 days of hire.

Please note, it is no longer sufficient to simply post it on a bulletin board.  It must be personally delivered.  The Employment Standards Office says that it may be delivered electronically through email as a pdf or hyperlink so long as the employee has the ability to print the poster.

There is no requirement to receive an acknowledgment from the employee; however, the employer will, if ever challenged, have to prove compliance.

The poster can be found at this here: http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/es/pdf/poster.pdf
