On July 13, 2017, the Brazilian Presidency sanctioned the Bill No. 6.787/2016, authored by the Federal Chamber of Deputies, which makes several changes to the Brazilian Labor Code ("Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho" or "CLT"). The project is also known as the "Labor Reform" (or "Reforma Trabalhista") because it makes changes to material aspects of individual and collective labor relationships, as well as to points relating to the proceedings of labor lawsuits.
It is worth emphasizing that the legal text, already sanctioned by the President, can (and probably will) be changed by means of a Provisional Measure to be issued by the Brazilian Presidency, and some of the changes could be substantial, as was announced by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
