Major Queensland hospital errors revealed
A federal report has revealed the number of serious errors reported
in Queensland hospitals over five years. Over five years, there
were 52 incidents reported in Queensland hospitals, according to a
Productivity Commission report. There were 15 sentinel events, or
mistakes leading to the death or injury of a patient, in Queensland
in 2015-16, and 82 across Australia (31 January 2018).

Doctors are urging Queenslanders who routinely use codeine to seek
medical advice before over-the-counter sales of the pain-killing
drug stop on 1 February. All codeine-based products –
including Panadeine, Mersyndol and Nurofen Plus – are being
banned from sale without prescription following a ruling by the
