The Migration Regulations have been amended to allow sponsors 28 days in which to make notifications to the Department.

The change will increase the timeframe in which employers must notify the Department of relevant events under the Sponsorship Obligations from 10 days to 28 days.

This extension will better enable businesses to make the required notifications and is intended to align with 28 day reporting requirements in other areas.

Details of the Sponsorship Obligations and related Notifications are available on our website here.

The changes become effective from 18 April 2015.

Further amendments are expected in coming months as the Federal Government seeks to implement the supported reforms from the Independent Report, Robust New Foundations. Eventus Immigration will continue to provide updates on changes that affect employers.
