Over the past couple of months, ACNC has been consulting with the Sector through a range of forums including community consultations and on line surveys on its regulatory approach statement.

The ACNC has released the results of this consultation which are summarised below:

  • 80-90% of respondents agreed with the statements in the ACNC regulatory approach
  • The respondents were overwhelmingly supportive of the presumption of honesty by both Charities and their responsible entities when dealing with the ACNC
  • The majority of respondents supported the proposed regulatory approach and felt the statements in the consultation clarified the role of the ACNC.

There was a significant level of qualitative comments collected through the survey of over 250 participants. The comments were diverse and highlighted a number of practical insights, areas requiring clarification and both consistency and diversity in the insights into the views of the respondents on various aspects. We would encourage the ACNC to consider this qualitative feedback in other aspects of its role in particular its objectives of red tape reduction and education.

Following analysis of feedback the ACNC will finalise its Regulatory approach statement in April 2013. We will update you on the final statement once it has been released.
