The UAE is one of the most expensive regions in the World when it comes to the trade mark registration process. The fees were doubled in all parts of the registration process in 2015 when UAE Cabinet Decision No.9 of 2015 was published.

We welcome the recent decision made by the UAE Trade Mark Office to reduce the official fees relating to the registration of trade marks and the renewal stage by 33%. While these fees have not yet been officially announced, we understand they are effective immediately and apply to both new applications and pending applications.

We further understand that the corresponding fees are likely to be reduced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In March 2019, official fee reductions of up to 80% were announced and we expect to receive further updates on this soon.
