Jersey's first aircraft registry has now become operational, following the recent coming into force of the Aircraft Registration (Jersey) Law 2014.

The Law allows for the registration of aircraft (currently limited to those not operating for the purposes of commercial air transport or aerial work, except in limited circumstances), aircraft engines, aircraft mortgages (whether created under Jersey or foreign law) and aircraft engine mortgages (whether created under Jersey or foreign law). The Law currently enables registration of aircraft by any owner who is a citizen or resident of or is incorporated or an undertaking established in any country in the EEA, British Commonwealth or Switzerland.
