Scheme For Setting Up Solar Parks And Ultra-Mega Solar Power Projects Approved

In the October 2014 edition of Infrastructure and Energy
Quarterly, we had highlighted the key elements of the Draft of the
Scheme for development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power
Projects (Scheme) which was issued by the Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy – National Solar Mission Coordination Group
vide its notification dated August 1, 2014 (click here to read the
note on the Draft Scheme). The Union Cabinet, on December 10, 2014
approved the Scheme for setting up 25 solar parks each with a
capacity of 500 MW and above and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects.
The solar parks shall accommodate over 20,000MW of solar power
projects. The solar parks shall be set up over a five year period
from 2014-15 to 2018-19.
