On 15 May 2015, a notice was gazetted to appoint 1 August 2015 as the effective date of certain amendments to the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance.

Starting from 1 August 2015, terminal illness will be an additional ground for the early withdrawal of MPF benefits.

As for the phased withdrawal of MPF benefits, the commencement date is yet to be proposed. We will let you know when the provision comes into force.
