• On March 7th, 2017 the National Hydrocarbons Commission ("CNH") published in the Federal Official Gazette the call for the farm out of two shallow water fields, currently operated by Pemex Exploración y Producción. Being referred to as the International Public Tender CNH-A2-AYIN-BATSIL/2017 (the "Call"), this Call has as purpose the signing of the afore-mentioned instrument is to carry out Hydrocarbons Exploration and Extraction activities under a Shared Production Contract in Shallow Waters.
  • The Ministry of Energy (“SENER”) presented the new Five-Year Tender Plan for the Exploration and Extraction of Hydrocarbons. With this new Plan, the available blocks cover an area of over 239 thousand square kilometres and contain 42 thousand 681 million barrels of oil equivalent of prospective resources. Based on the afore-mentioned Plan, the CNH will design three new tenders, namely: (i) 2.4 for deep-water and for non-conventional land areas; (ii) 3.1 for shallow water and conventional land areas; and (iii) 3.2 for deep-water and non-conventional land areas.
  • Finally, it should be noted that PETROFAC and PEP have substantially advanced in the negotiations with the Mexican government. The purpose is to migrate the CIEP contract in the Sanctuary Block, which is located in the state of Tabasco, to a new EEC Shared Production Contract. In the following days, the announcement will be done.
