The local PTO (Indecopi) recently reminded creators of
advertising and electoral campaigns that if they use music,
photographs, audiovisual works, etc., owned by third parties, they
must have the authorization of the creators.
According to Peru legislation, a violation of any provision of
copyright law will be considered an offense punishable by a fine in
administrative proceedings and from a criminal aspect with a
penalty of up to 8 years of imprisonment.
