On 1 January 2013 the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967-2007 were amended, whereby the rebate available to employers from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation against statutory redundancy payments was abolished. This follows on from the changes made in January 2012 when the rebate had been drastically reduced from 60% to 15%.

Queries have come up as to whether or not the RP50 form still needs to be completed since the abolition of the rebate. We can confirm that the RP50 form no longer needs to be sent to the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. However the form still needs to be completed by the employer and given to the employee until such time as the legislation is updated.
