The new structure of the tax administration approved By Decree 646/97, was published in the Official Gazette of 23 July 1997. The structure encompasses the creation of a new agency called the Federal Administration of Public Income (AFIP), established by Decree 1,156/96 (published in the Official Gazette of 16 October 1996). AFIP is the result of integrating the customs administration office and the former General Directorate of Taxes.
